Prof Richard Daniel Gentile

Head of Department

Dr. Richard D. Gentile is a distinguished and world-renowned Board-Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and teacher and author who is respected internationally for his innovation artistry and technical skills. Dr. Gentile is sought out globally by his colleagues to share his knowledge and techniques through invited lectures, textbook contributions, hands on educational courses and many scientific publications. He received his BS in Genetics from the Ohio State University in 1978 after being granted early admission to the University. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1982. He then accepted a dual Residency position in Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the world-famous Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas where he trained under Dr. Michael E DeBakey in general surgery. Dr. Gentile was influenced by Drs. Donald Shumrick, Jack Gluckman, Robin Cotton while at UCMED and Dr. Bobby Alford, Dr. William K Wright, and Dr. Russ Kridel at BAYLORMED in Facial Plastic Surgery. Before it became trendy in the US, Dr. Gentile for Physicians completed a Master of Business Administration executive program at Youngstown State University in 1991. Known by his peers for “Thinking Innovatively Outside the Box” Dr. Gentile has been committed to developing innovative methods for Facial Rejuvenation and is a frequent lecturer in New Technologies and Devices and has conducted multiple FDA studies with new devices for the Aesthetic Industry. Dr Gentile has served in leadership roles in both the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) where he was an executive board member and Treasurer and for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health care (AAAHC) where he served on the Standards Committee for ten years. Prior to entering full time private practice Dr. Gentile had faculty appointments at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Texas; Case Western Reserve College of Medicine, Cleveland Ohio; and Northeastern Ohio Medical University, Akron, Ohio. Dr Gentile resides in Canfield Ohio and maintains private clinics in Youngstown and Akron Ohio. Dr Gentile has a long list of publications, book chapters and presentations nationally and internationally and is the editor of “Neck Rejuvenation” a textbook for Plastic Surgeons published in 2011. Dr. Gentile is the creator of the LaserSmartLift the world’s first laser-assisted facelift and the UltraLift® the world’s first Ultrasonic assisted facelift. He has also developed advanced technology suture techniques for Necklifting Cerclage Purse String Platysmaplasty (CERCTM PSP and energy-based techniques for Deep Plane Facelift and Deep Plane Necklift (ACCU-SMAS®).

Prof. Hossam Foda is Head of Facial Plastic Surgery at the Department of Otolarygology at Alexandria Medical School, Egypt. He is a world-renowned authority in rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty and has dedicated the last twenty-five years of his career to the subject. Dr Foda has made valuable contributions to the literature of rhinoplasty and has given live surgical demonstrations in every continent. His remarkably beautiful rhinoplasty results, even in the most difficult cases, coupled with his excellent teaching skills, has made him one of the most sought after instructors in rhinoplasty in the world. He is senior faculty at the European College of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.
Prof Alexander Berghaus

Prof. Alexander Berghaus had a leading position in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Berlin Free University, then was elected Head of the Department at Halle University, and lastly, became Director of Otorhinolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery at Munich University. Dr. Berghaus served as President of the German Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, as well as the German Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is now in private practice in Munich, focusing on nasal surgery and facial plastic surgery. During the past decades, Dr. Berghaus represented one of the support columns for teaching rhinoplasty in Germany and beyond, regularly offering courses much in demand, and being invited to numerous presentations and surgical demonstrations worldwide. He practices and teaches both open and closed rhinoplasty procedures. Dr. Berghaus is a senior faculty at the European College of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.

Prof Yong Ju Jang, MD PhD

Prof. Yong Ju Jang is a preeminent figure in the field of otolaryngology, with a special focus on facial plastic surgery. Born on March 3, 1963, in Seoul, South Korea, he has made significant contributions to rhinoplasty, septoplasty, and reconstructive nasal surgery.

Educated at Seoul National University College of Medicine, Prof. Jang obtained both his medical degree and Ph.D. there. His early medical career included internships and residencies at Seoul National University Hospital, where he honed his skills in otolaryngology. He further expanded his expertise as an instructor to Associate Professor at Dankook University Medical College and as a visiting scholar at UC Davis and the California Department of Health, delving into the pathogenesis of paranasal sinusitis and the role of rhinovirus in sinusitis.

Currently serving as Professor and Department Chair at the Department of Otolaryngology, Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, Prof. Jang is deeply committed to advancing his field through both clinical practice and academic leadership. His research interests in areas such as rhinoplasty, reconstructive nose surgery, and the management of empty nose syndrome are a testament to his dedication to clinical excellence and innovation.

Prof. Jang’s career is distinguished by a remarkable publication record of over 150 scientific publications, underscoring his prolific contributions to medical literature and research in otolaryngology. His books, such as “Practical Rhinoplasty,” are considered essential readings in the field.

His array of awards from prestigious organizations like the Korean Otolaryngologic Society and the American Rhinologic Society showcases his contributions and impact on otolaryngology. Additionally, Prof. Jang’s active involvement in professional organizations, including his roles as President of the Pan-Asian Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, highlights his influence in shaping the future of his field.

Dr. Danilo De Gregorio

Danilo De Gregorio is a plastic surgeon with 18 years extensive experience in aesthetic medicine and all procedure of cosmetic surgery. He has established several renowned aesthetic medical centers across Italy. Dr. De Gregorio graduated at Perugia University, pursued a Postgraduate University Masters in Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery at the University of San Marino and “La Sapienza” of Roma, and obtained a position as Associate Professor of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery from 2009 to 2011 at the same University. He is an active faculty member of the International Society of Surgical Anatomy (SIACH) where he teaches clinically oriented anatomy through detailed cadaver dissections. He divides his time between his teaching commitments in Nice ( France), his busy aesthetic medicine and surgery practices in Perugia, Roma, Firenze, Bologna, Mantova, Verona, and Bolzano (Italy), and collaboration as Visiting Professor in manifold private Clinic worldwide (Sweden, Croatia, Uk)

Dr. Steven Cohen is an internationally recognized plastic surgeon, inventor, artist, entrepreneur and lifelong student. He is in private practice in La Jolla California and a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego. Initially interested in cardiovascular surgery, Dr. Cohen trained in general surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and did a two year fellowship in cardiac surgery at the National Institutes of Health. While at NIH, Dr. Cohen saw a magnificent program on the new field of Craniofacial Surgery and changed his career path. After completing general surgery at Dartmouth and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Cohen went on to finish his training with a fellowship in Craniofacial and Facial Plastic Surgery at UCLA under the direction of Dr. Henry Kawamoto. During his career in Craniofacial Surgery, Dr. Cohen invented the first commercially distributed internal craniofacial distraction device, which has been distributed by Stryker since 1997 and holds a patent on the first resorbable distraction device (Macropore Biosurgery, now owned by Medtronic). He performed the first neonatal mandibular distraction to prevent tracheostomy in a one week old infant with Pierre Robin (1997), the first internal Monobloc Distraction (1994) and Facial Bipartition with Distraction (1995), all three of which have become the standard-of-care in the US and abroad. Dr. Cohen and his team were the third group in the world to perform endoscopic craniosynostosis surgery and helped launch Macropore Biosurgery, an innovative company making bioresorbable devices. In 2000, Dr. Cohen along with Dr. Ralph Holmes and Christopher Calhoun founded LeonardoMD, one of the earliest cloud computing companies in medicine, sold to Azalea Medical in 2016. Dr. Cohen has always loved innovation and in 2004, sensing that fractionation of laser light would be the next disruption, bought the 14th fractional laser (Fraxel) produced by Reliant, now owned by Valiant. Since 2002, Dr. Cohen has concentrated his efforts in the field of regenerative medicine and aesthetics, performing the 3rd through 11th adipocyte derived stem cell treatment in the world, and most recently (2016-2019) co-inventing several new disposable systems for fat grafting and nanofat production (Tulip Medical, Millenium Medical and Lipocube, Inc.). Dr. Cohen has a provisional patent on his technique of anatomic and regenerative fat grafting, ITR2, Injectable Tissue Replacement and Regeneration and recently submitted a patent for new tools for hydro-dissection of subcutaneous tissue during facelift surgery. Dr. Cohen has been named as one of the best plastic surgeons in America by the US News and World Report, Castle Connolly and Best Doctors, Inc. for numerous years. He has been voted 10 times as one of the best plastic surgeons in San Diego by the San Diego Medical Society. He has served on the editorial boards of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal, the Annals of Plastic Surgery, and presently is on the editorial boards of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal and the Journal of Aesthetic Surgery. He has written over 170 publications and edited two textbooks in Plastic Surgery, one of which, on aesthetic fillers has been translated into Korean and Mandarin. Dr. Cohen has been an invited lecturer, demonstrating surgical techniques throughout the world at centers such as Johns Hopkins and Stanford University Medical Center as well as in leading aesthetic and academic centers in Japan, Korea, Russia, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, France, Colombia and Italy to name a few. His work in facial aesthetics and most recently his new concept of fat grafting, which is based on anatomic placement and regeneration of decayed tissues has received worldwide interest. He received the Tiffany Award from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for his work showing progressive improvement in facial volume after Injectable Tissue Replacement and Regeneration, a new standardized fat grafting technique in combination with his unique approach of skin elevation and extended deep plane, SMAS facelift. In addition to his medical career, Dr Cohen is an artist, and his paintings are in nearly 100 private collections. In 2015 Dr. Cohen had a solo exhibition in Paris at the Gallery Beres. He continues to show and sell his work, donating the proceeds to charity.

Prof Wolfgang Gubisch

Professor dr med. Wolfgang Gubisch is Senior Director of the Clinic for Fascial Plastic Surgery, Marienhospital Stuttgart and Chairman of the Council of Experts of the German Nose Surgeons. He is a renowned authority in functional and aesthetic nose surgery, aesthetic facial and neck surgery and reconstructive facial and neck surgery. Professor Gubisch is a scientific consultant of numerous, leading German and international journals and forums. For thirty years he has been fascinated with, and dedicated his career, to rhinoplasty surgery.
