Dr Alexandros K. Derpapas is a certified Urogynaecologist and Pelvic Floor Reconstructive Surgeon by the Royal College and Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, UK. Following his training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, he completed a 3-year fellowship in Urogynaecology at St Mary’s Hospital, London and he was awarded a MD(Res) thesis at Imperial College London. Dr Derpapas further subspecialized in vaginal and laparoscopic reconstructive surgery at the renowned Addenbrooke’s Hospital, University of Cambridge, UK and worked as Consultant Urogynaecologist in the UK and Ireland.
Dr Derpapas has an extensive academic record of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at world scientific meetings, some of which have been awarded prestigious awards. Among his main interests are 3D-4D ultrasonography of pelvic floor disorders, management of recurrent pelvic floor prolapse and laser treatment of the Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause. He is a committee member of the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) and the International Continence Society (ICS) and has co-authored chapters in various textbooks, as well as in the International Consultation on Incontinence 2017, 6th edition.
Dr Derpapas is Director of the Department of Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstructive Surgery at Rea Maternity Hospital, Athens, Greece, where he receives tertiary referrals for complex urogynaecological cases.
